Why Jotun Paints?



 
 

Jotun is one of the worldwide leading producers of paints, coatings, and powder coatings with origins from Norway and a history spanning over 80 years across 50 countries. The founder was Odd Gleditsch d.y. since 1926. The Jotun Group has a total of four divisions, with its head office in Sandefjord, Norway. It has 70 companies and 38 production facilities on all continents. Additionally, it has about 7,800 employees recorded as at 2010.

Jotun Malaysia is a subsidiary of Jotun AS of Norway. It was established since 1984. Peder bohlin is the Regional Director for South East Asia and Managing Director for Malaysia. He plans to invest a further of RM100mil over the next 10 years as part of its expansion drive.

In 2011, Jotun Malaysia has invested RM160 million for the production facility for its ultra-modern plant in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan which is the largest in Asia Pacific as at 2011. The following are the achievements to date:

1986 Introduced Baltoflake, the most effective corrosive protection
1988 Introduced to Asia the first Multicolor Tinting System technology
1991 Official opening of new factory by YB Dato’s Seri Rafidah Aziz in Shah Alam
1992 Became the first Asian paint company to be awarded the ISO 9001 Certification
1996 Painted the biggest petro-chemical plant, Ethylene Malaysia
1998 Bukit Jalil Commonwealth Games was protected with Jotun
1999 Regional R&D laboratory established in Malaysia
2002 Launched the most advanced TBT-free antifoulings SeaQuantum
2003 Introduced the ultimate wall protection for interior surfaces, Majestic Optima
2004 Jotun continues to maintain leadership position in Multicolor Tinting Machines by opening its 200th Multicolor Centre
2004 Launched SeaForce, the superior antifouling for wide range of vessels and trading patterns
2007 Assessed and certified NS-EN ISO 14001:2004 in manufacture of powder coatings
2010 Assessed and certified BS-OHSAS 18001:2007 in manufacture of powder coatings
